Airbrush Makeup, leave it to the Professionals | Beauty with the Baby | Bridal Makeup Denver

Have I mentioned how absolutely excited about wedding season I am? Trials, trails and more trials are coming up this weekend... and the next and the next. Trials are totally a critical part of the planning. You need to see if you are a fit with me and my style. As well as me to you. I only do airbrush makeup. Airbrush makeup may not be your thing,... yet. But here's why it should be.

I fully believe and can stand behind its super duper staying qualities. It has a silky finish, but can also be matted down a bit with some translucent powder. Its silicon based making it dewy and fresh looking and feeling. It feels like a second skin. It's virtually waterproof. Tears stand no chance. So please, get emotional at your wedding. Kleenexes are purely for show.

Be bold with your eye shadow choices.

Be prepared to take a chance to love some full lashes.

Don't be afraid to take it out of your comfort zone. You don't always have to be natural. A bold lip pop or a full set of lash extensions could really make the whole look pop.

Remember that the camera will take away a lot of the effects of the makeup that you see yourself in the mirror. I will always be much more heavy handed when photos are being taken. But know that I work with photographers on a daily basis, so I see exactly what should be highlighted. Your skin tone, eye shape, and eye color will have a lot to do with your overall look. So let me do all the work.

You just wear that dress, and walk down that aisle. Let me and my team take care of the rest.

Anxiety is the B word | Beauty with the Baby | Denver Lifestyle Blogger

Anxiety... that pesky little A word, that actually is that total B word. Its gripping, sometimes unexplainable, and a total pain in my other A word. I feel like so many times it's a hidden illness, buts its very very out in the opening of my world. A counselor told me years ago to let it be free. Bottling it all up will make it erupt heavier. So here's a little part of me, letting it be free. Also a few products that help me along the way.

Through my life I've suffered loss. As a teenager, just reaching the tender years of junior high was my first great loss. My first serious love took his own life after a night of teenage experimenting with heavy drinking. That year was surrounded with so many firsts for all of us. New school, new friends, new hormones, and new pressures. It really was all just a whirlwind. It was tricky to manage all that as a 14 year old. I really didn't even have any idea what I was doing.

An aunt passed away too young, another friend out of college was killed in a car accident, then i had some time to heal. I had found the love of my life, and things were really coming around and settling in. The big unraveling was when my soon to be husband learned of a friend tragically over dosing. My Grandmother and then my Grandfather both passed as well. Everything came rushing up to the surface. All in one night, I remember how it felt to loose all those loved ones so quickly. My mind went to a place of total fear. Fear that I was going to lose everyone else.

I had totally lost myself and all my other relationships suffered. I turned into someone that I didn't know. I didn't have control of anything. Especially my focus on healing. I really don't even think I knew what was happening. Most of the times I just thought that I was dying from some mystery disease. My husband would often say, "get a grip". To those with anxiety, you now how pissed off that makes you. But, life with me was complicated.

Fast forward from 2008-2013. That was a long long time to live without a grip. We have moved to Colorado. Home of hippies, natural foods, and holistic everything. I thought this was a good time to get the grip happening. I visited my first naturopath. She was like, girl... get off that birth control and life will get good. Two days later... after not sleeping from the hormones flushing a crazy proportions out of my body, the cloud lifted. Like, literally. I think the colors were brighter, I couldn't hear my heart beating in my ears, I felt EVERYTHING that was happening inside of my body. I had it. I had the grip back. I cleaned out my body, I finally dropped those 20 pounds that I had been holding onto, and we could think ahead in our lives. I know that I definitely did a lot of self meditating when we moved away from all family and friends. I had not much else to do, to be honest. But giving up birth control just unlocked my brain.

Sleepy time tea. Every night. Recharge. Renew.

Standard process- Min Tran... for when that A word creeps back in.

Finally my body and head were clean enough to grow a baby. Few little obstacles and here we are. There's so much more to this story... but I encourage you to share your story now. Leave a comment about something you want to work on. Something you've been wanting to share. I will chat along back with you. Sharing brings it back up, in order to heal it deeper, or to help someone else heal with you.

My light at the end of the tunnel is this sweet little giggly girl. I have to stay ahead of it all. Just for her.

Fast and Easy Winged Liner | Beauty with the Baby | Denver Makeup artist

A request I get a lot for makeup classes is winged liner. The ever allusive wing.

So I decided to do a little series on that pesky little wing. for the next month, I'll put out a blog with looks tying the wing into each in different ways.

This one i call the "quicky wing". This morning of our weekly shoots Ruby had decided to run around the house pulling her diaper off on one side. So after catching up with her and wrangling some pants on her cute little rear, I had about 10 minutes to make myself up. Which was totally awesome because this was the day we were shooting two makeup looks that needed to be pretty polished.

We aren't always perfect. That's why my looks, blogs, or grammar rarely are. But that's real life and thats what I want to show you. Imperfect is just perfect, in my book.

I incorporated my 5 minute makeup look from a prior blog, and added a little liquid liner on top. I always use a gel liner applied with a flat angled brush to be my base. Be careful not to get to much product on your brush. Try to clean it off along the sides of the pot to get a more polished line. draw a line from your outer corner of your eye towards the direction of the end of your finished brow. You can go as short or as long as you want. Make a dot on your lash line just to the outside of your iris. Then connect the dots between the inner eye lash line, the dots you made in the center and the far end of your outer eye. Fill that in with the gel. I like to set the gel with a powder. I also sometimes need a little boost of water resistance for my runny eyes, so I'll use a waterproof gel over the top.

Its easy right? Lol... I know but seriously, like always.... practice practice practice. Keep some q tips and makeup remover handy. After you've done all your adjustments, you can run over the skin under and over the wing with your concealer. That will also help your line to look more highlighted.

Keep an eye out for more step by steps on other styles of wings. But feel free to make up your own!! If you do, leave a comment below on your little tricks! We would all love to learn a new routine.

Handmade Bonnet | Beauty with the Baby | Handmade Baby Accessories

I'm always looking for practical accessories for Ruby. This girl is definitely rebelling against all things girly. So if I don't just want her in sweatpants and a T-shirt, I've gotta come up with something creative.

Her 1 year milestone shoot with Baby Rose Photography was dead in the middle of winter. I was dying for some shots in the fresh snow. So we had to bundle our little snow baby up. I was looking for a not so stocking hat, and bonnets are making a come back. Yay!! So to etsy I went.

Almost instantly I came across a shop called Ally and Annie. The name and the goods got my attention. White quilted, Sherpa lined (option or organic Sherpa), leather ties, with this adorable faux fur pom. A little shabby chic, a little vintage, with a modern flare. Sold!!! She got this beauty out to me just in time for her pictures, rush shipped it for me even. You can see some of those amazing photos here

The ties encourage her to keep it on the whole time we're out romping around. The soft insulated fabric keeps her thin hair covered head warm. She's totally styling even if she hasn't gotten out of her sweatpants.

It's a score for mom, and a "thanks mom" later in life for her.

I can't wait to show you more looks from Ally and Annie. Until then follow her here on instagram or here at her etsy shop.
